Massive Flight Cancellations – COVID-19 Update

With the impact of COVID-19 spreading from the far east through the USA and Europe, it’s true that capacities are drastically depleting everywhere. Due to the travel suspension placed by our government (now for flights both in and out of the country), many companies will soon be facing a hardship trying to get their regular supply of inventory to keep their operations running. Lufthansa Airlines announced on Thursday they will cancel 23,000+ flights for the summer schedule, which will cause a massive impact on the airfreight market/capacities.

At this point in time, we are fortunate enough that our hard block space agreement with Lufthansa for our weekly air freight cargo out of Frankfurt flies on a Saturday freighter instead of a passenger(PAX) flight. The freighters will continue to function normally, and not be affected by these cancellations. Luckily we at Transatlantic are safe, healthy, and still functioning regularly, but the situation is changing day-to-day. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted on new developments. Stay safe everyone ?
